Throat Chakra Affirmation: “I speak freely and with confidence. It is now safe for me to express my feelings and to create the life I desire. Everything I do is an expression of Love.”

The throat chakra is the first of the higher chakras which enhances your spirituality aspects. It is what propels you to seek your truths and find them. The throat chakra also enables you to express yourself freely. You find your voice and accept the intimate parts of yourself that make you unique when this chakra is at its optimum. The throat chakra links you to your integrity and honour. You speak the truth but you also listen intently to others, allowing them to feel safe and loved in your presence. If you’re especially negative or experience an excessive amount of self doubt, this chakra may need cleansing.

Yoga poses that strengthen the chakra are: Sarvangasana, Halasana, Matsyasana, Simhasana

The throat chakra is located in the “V” which comes together in the middle of the collarbone. It is known as the centre of purification as the energy within us becomes transformed into manifestations in the outer world. As the throat chakra is a powerful filter to how your life is going to go, it’s essential that it is cleansed. It is said that guilty feelings and other negative emotions can clog this chakra. The chakra’s physical symptoms when it’s closed include; nasal problems, sore neck, shoulders and arms as well as thyroid problems. The colour associated with the throat chakra is blue, so surround yourself with anything blue. Crystals that assist in the healing of the Visshuddha chakra include:  Lapis Lazuli, Aquamarine, Sodalite, Turquoise, Tanzanite and Blue Tourmaline. So it is great to wear gemstone jewellery with those crystals to balance your throat chakra. Foods that assist in the healing of the throat chakra should be considered fuel for the energy within you. Drink a lot of water and other nutritious liquids. Fruits like apples, pears and orange energise the Visshuddha chakra while lemon and lime deeply cleanse it.

Cleansing Your Chakra

To strengthen and cleanse the Visshuddha chakra, there is a quick and easy breathing exercise you can do.

1          Take a deep breath in, all the way into your stomach. See it as a balloon and you are filling it with air

2          Let it out slowly

3          Repeat this just a few times daily to restore the flow of your throat chakra

With a balanced Visshuddha chakra, you will be able to freely express yourself. You also assist others in being able to talk with you. The throat chakra is a part of your deep spiritual self and what you are receiving in life is an indication of the energy pouring through the throat chakra.

    Years ago, I took a chakra balancing class. There was much emphasis on visualization, breath work, and centering meditation. I loved it.

    Meditation always relaxed your mind and body and yoga is one of the best ways to meditate. Longtime back I read about yoga and all chakras and now it’s reminder for me to start things again . Thanks for all the details about throat chakra like food , color and the process to do the chakra.

    I have heard about chakras before but never tried it. Today, when I heard that you said “If you’re especially negative or experience an excessive amount of self doubt, this chakra may need cleansing.” Just what I needed. Like, a peaceful mind, a healthy body and a open soul. I’m a little overthinking person, so may be this throat charka may help me a lot. Also, the steps are surprisingly easy to follow! Thanks so much for your blog.

    I have just started getting into yoga and struggle with not laughing. I just can’t stay serious. As soon as everything around me is silent I start laughing. I have no idea why.
